The Ҵý is pleased to announce that violinists Ilya Kaler and Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler will join the Ҵý String Faculty at the start of the 2018-19 academic year.

“For generations, Ҵý has been celebrated for its extraordinary string pedagogy and remarkable violin faculty,” said Ҵý President and CEO Paul W. Hogle. “Today, it is our profound honor to welcome these two distinguished musicians and teachers to the Ҵý. Ilya Kaler—the only violinist to win the Gold Medal at three prestigious competitions: the Tchaikovsky in Moscow, the Sibelius in Helsinki and the Paganini in Genoa—is one of the most sought-after pedagogues in the world. Olga Kaler is renowned as a soloist, chamber musician, artist-teacher and guest clinician. She is also a highly-respected scholar. The Ҵý family is delighted to welcome the Kalers to our amazing violin department, to our esteemed faculty and to Cleveland.”

The Kalers join Ҵý’s distinguished violin faculty, which includes international artists Joan Kwuon (department head), Jaime Laredo, Ivan Zenaty and Jinjoo Cho (interim faculty appointment); Cleveland Orchestra members William Preucil (concertmaster) and Stephen Rose (principal second violin); and Jan Sloman, principal associate concertmaster emeritus of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
